LifeCare in Pennsylvania to close, lay off 122
LifeCare Hospitals of Mechanicsburg LLC, a provider of specialty acute medical care, is shutting its doors, displacing 122 workers, according to the Central Penn Business Journal.
The hospital is located at 4950 Wilson Lane in Lower Allen Township.
"We have made the difficult decision to close our hospital in Mechanicsburg. We began communicating with employees, patients and physicians late last week. This was not an easy decision," a spokeswoman for LifeCare said.
Some 122 workers will lose their jobs as a result of the closure, according to the notice which was made under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, Act.
"This is to advise you that on or about September 10, 2018, LifeCare Hospitals of Mechanicsburg will permanently close and the Company anticipates its employees’ last day to be on that date," the notice read.
