Social network for senior living communities launched

The desire among seniors in independent living and assisted living communities to stay connected keeps growing. So as a way to offer seniors more options to connect with family and friends, Chicago-based Caremerge has announced a partnership with Life Care Services to launch an online social network serving LCS-managed communities.

The new network, called "Community Social," will be rolled out in select LCS communities before a nationwide launch.

By building on Caremerge's mobile care coordination platform, LCS residents and their families can access the network through a computer or a mobile device.

In addition, staff can access the site to provide health-related, social and community-based information and healthcare providers can connect to facilitate resident care.

“We are extremely excited to bring Community Social to the market and to be partnering with Life Care Services,” said Asif Khan, founder and CEO of Caremerge. “Not only will Community Social forge new and meaningful connections among residents, staff, and family members, but will also allow communities to eventually serve their residents holistically by tying seniors’ social, behavior and wellness. By identifying trends and understanding the impact of residents’ social behaviors and day-to-day activities and vice versa, communities can be more proactive about initiating appropriate and effective resident services and activities.”
