Partnership aims at reducing pressure ulcers, falls

The Stanley Healthcare Patient Monitoring solution will give caregivers the ability to monitor a resident's sleep patterns, position changes while in bed and episodes of leaving bed through real-time data gathered from BAM Labs' under-matress sensor pad.

According to Mark Bisson, Stanley's Global Solutions Manager, this collaborative partnership will integrate BAM Labs' sensor technology with Stanley Healthcare's global software platform, MobileView, thus turning data into meaningful information that can be easily assessed by caregivers.

While more efficient monitoring can reduce pressure ulcers in residents, the data captured by this sensor pad also can help prevent falls among the elderly. Medical costs directly related to falls can be as high as $52 billion a year, according to some estimates.
