New bed rest monitoring feature to hit the market

Waltham, Mass.-based EarlySense is introducing new features to its EarlySense System, including a rest indicator that will give caregivers the ability to monitor a resident's level of rest and motion while still in bed.

The company claims that its engineers have demonstrated that the new indicator can accurately determine pending bed exits more than 50 seconds before they occur, noted a company announcement.

The rest indicator will become an integral part of the company's flagship product, a continuous, contact-free monitoring solution that monitors and documents an individual's vital signs and movements via a sensor placed under a mattress or chair cushion.
