Secure text messaging for the EHR

PointClickCare, a leading provider of electronic health record (EHR) systems for the long-term care market, has entered into an exclusive partnership with TigerText, a secure text messaging solutions provider.

As text messaging via mobile devices is becoming a big part of day-to-day communications, the integration of secure text messaging capabilities with an EHR will allow nurses and physicians to communicate time-sensitive information about residents from both the PointClickCare EHR platform and from their own mobile devices via the TigerText mobile application.

By integrating the two platforms, users will have the ability to track multiple conversations, streamline communication between staff members and ensure real-time collaboration between long-term, post-acute and primary caregivers.

Long-term and post-acute care providers "have long been in need of a reliable and robust secure messaging solution that is HIPAA-compliant, has the flexibility to be used within their EHR platform and on mobile devices, and also enables relevant conversations to be included in the resident’s record," Mike Wessinger, president and CEO of PointClickCare, said in a prepared statement.

Roll out of the integrated solution is planned for the first quarter of 2014.
