Partnership creates wireless network for senior living communities

Spot In Networks LLC, a wireless internet service provider, and Masonicare, Connecticut’s leading provider of healthcare and retirement living communities for seniors, announced a partnership to provide a unique suite of wireless solutions to both staff and residents.

Spot On's secure WiFi infrastructure will provide Masonicare communities with both wireless local area networks and wireless Internet access.

To ensure resident safety and comfort, the network offers residents one-touch access to assistance wherever they are in the Masonicare complex and the ability of staff to pinpoint their exact location.

Other features include Masonicare Physician–Assisted Emergency Response which will allow security staff to communicate effectively with on-call physicians; and Masonicare MedMinder, a system with wireless devices supported by the network that provides an all-in-one medication management and emergency alert system.

In addition, Spot On's solution will provide residents with WiFi access for wireless devices, a secure WiFi connection between staff members and the facility's back office and a smart building solution that includes energy monitoring, video monitoring and door security sensors.

“Our residents want to stay connected with family and friends via such applications as Skype, email and chat," said Stephen B. McPherson, president and CEO of Masonicare. "Our partnership with Spot On Networks allows us to not only offer our residents and staff secure WiFi throughout our property, but we are able to monitor our patients more closely, improve communications between staff, doctors and patients and improve property operations.”
