Optimus EMR adds secure access, barcode verification to EHR

Irvine, Calif.-based Optimus EMR Inc. has announced that it will be adding new functionality to its electronic medical record.

When released in 2015, the clinical software improvements will include: 

An operating system-independent module that will allow clinicians to securely access the EMR remotely.

An EPCS (electronic prescribing of controlled substances) function that will allow healthcare providers to electronically prescribe medications, including those classified as controlled substances.

A bar code verification system for confirming that the right patient/resident has received the right medication at the right dose at the right time and by the right route.
