Your response to five-star ratings
Is your facility satisfied with its five-star rating from CMS? Please explain.
– By the basis that Feds have categorized homes with known substandard practices and are now awarding them five stars, it will potentially mislead families and caregivers as to the quality of care of those homes and put the residents at risk.
– The public is offered no real information on what the factors are that determine the ratings, and nursing homes are offered no rebuttal or defense.
– There appears to be no identifiable, consistent data when comparing nursing homes. When you click into the criteria, those homes with the same scores have different numbers of stars. It’s very confusing.
– We are a small facility and don’t know where they got some of the data.
– This is in part due to wrong information provided at the time of survey on staffing. Our administrator told us to put twice as much staffing down on the form at the time of survey. So we ended up with a four-star and that is not accurate.
– We got a five out of five!
– Old data and most recent survey history for three years appears to not have been considered with some facilities based on the CMS teleconferences and what they are telling.
– Only the strong will survive!
– Staffing scores do not reflect accuracy compared to PPD.
– We are too small of a facility and it skews our numbers to not reflect appropriately.
– It does not measure any form of quality. At best it attempts to measure administrative regulatory compliance. That is fraught with subjectivity and inconsistencies.
