Wearable device has built-in intelligence

Boston-based LYCOS has developed a wearable device called LYCOS Life that can “sense” the user’s everyday patterns and transfer that information securely and wirelessly via Bluetooth to their smartphone.

The device uses a software that can learn who you are, what you prefer and what you do based on patterns and behaviors. It also incorporates a Tap to Transfer (T2T) communication protocol that allows the user to monitor sleep, heart rate, incoming calls and notifications, which then can be accessed, hands-free, from the smartphone.

The technlogy could have opportunties for greater interfacing between long-term care residents' daily life in between clincial visits, especially where chroni care is concerned. “The most valuable commodity in life is time and this technology helps LYCOS Life users maximize their time by making smarter and more informed decisions using the data they receive from LYCOS Life,” said Brad Cohen, president and chief strategy officer of LYCOS.
