New dementia care support program launched

Learning from her own experiences as a caregiver for her husband who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, Ethelle Lord set out to share those experiences with others facing similar challenges. In doing so, she founded the International Caregivers Association (ICA), a member-based model focused on delivering high-quality care to those living with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

ICA's mission is to communicate its message of compassion, education and advocacy; empower both those living with the disease and their caregivers; and to improve dementia care both in the home and in long-term care facilities, according to a press release posted on the association's website.

As a first step in helping to provide high-quality care for those living with these diseases and to assist their caregivers, ICA has made available on its website a series of video training materials for its members.

Using a webinar platform, the informational videos can be accessed from anywhere and cover a wide range of care solutions designed for caregivers, healthcare providers and administrators of long-term care facilities.
