National Quality Forum President Corrigan to step down

Janet Corrigan, president and CEO of the National Quality Forum (NQF), has submitted her resignation to become effective in June 2012, the Forum’s board announced Thursday.

Corrigan has served as NQF president and CEO for more than six years.

NQF Board Chair William Roper, MD, MPH, said Corrigan has been instrumental in advancing the organization from a national consensus standard-setting organization to one that “now includes a deeper and broader set of activities designed to help improve the quality and value of American healthcare more rapidly.”

“During her tenure as CEO, NQF has made substantial contributions in advancing healthcare quality,” Roper said in a statement. “She played a pivotal role in our collective, successful effort to establish a multi-stakeholder consultative process as part of HHS rulemaking—ensuring that rules are informed upstream by all stakeholders impacted by their decisions.”

Corrigan said she is “deeply proud” of the organization’s contributions to healthcare quality during her tenure.

The NQF board of directors announced that they have created a search committee for Corrigan’s replacement.
