Joshua Freitas named NCCDP’s 2016 educator of the year
The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) has named Joshua Freitas the 2016 Educator of the Year. Freitas, M.Ed, CADDCT, CAEd, author of "The Dementia Concept," is the corporate director of memory care and resident engagement at LCB Senior Living, LLC.
Freitas was nominated by his peers who says he inspires others through his passion, education and training of NCCDP Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia Care Curriculum to healthcare professionals and frontline staff. One nominator wrote Freitas has increased contentment and decreased frustration among frontline staff.
"Joshua has met the challenges of reaching beyond state and federal regulations regarding dementia education and has inspired a lifelong passion for his employees to have continued growth in patient care," according to the press release.
NCCDP honors educators for their efforts help staff meet the challenging standards for dementia education.
Freitas was the director of memory care innovation and services when his former employer, Benchmark Senior Living, was named Long-Term Living’s 2014 OPTIMA award winner.
Freitas will be a key speaker at the Memory Care Forum, May 23-24, 2016 in Philadelphia.
