Incoming AHCA President Energizes LTC Professionals at Annual Expo

LONG BEACH, CALIF.—More than 2,500 long-term care providers descended yesterday on the Long Beach Convention Center for the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living’s (AHCA/NCAL) 61st Annual Convention and Exposition, headlined with an energizing speech by the incoming president and CEO, Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson.

Elaborating on his experience as an owner and operator of long-term care facilities, Parkinson shared personal stories with attendees as well as his hopes for the future of the organization. He also drew upon his experience as a legislator while affirming his commitment to be the voice for the long-term and post-acute care profession in Washington, D.C. when he assumes the office in January.

“Taking on the role of president and CEO of AHCA/NCAL allows me to combine my passion for quality elder care with my public policy experience,” said Parkinson, who was named AHCA/NCAL’s next leader this past September. “I am excited for the opportunity to continue the work my family has enjoyed so much throughout the years and to significantly increase my impact in the long-term and post-acute care profession.”

Convention attendees also visited more than 300 expo booths along with educational sessions.
