Total shoulder replacements to reach $959M by 2019
The global Total Shoulder Replacement (TSR) market is expected to nearly double to $959 million by 2019, according to new data from research firm GlobalData. Researchers credit the growing numbers of shoulder fractures and arthritis diagnoses and a heightened patient awareness of shoulder replacement options as the driving forces.
In 2012, the TSR market across the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil, China, India and the United Kingdom reached $526 million. As TSR surgical techniques grow in adoption, the key countries for its implementation continue to be the United States and Germany.
Both anatomic TSR and “reverse TSR” are gaining in popularity, with reverse TSR surging as an option in the United States, the report adds.
