New app helps families and caregivers coordinate visits, tasks

For families taking care of elderly loved ones, it can be hard to remember who performed what tasks, or when a certain medication has to be taken. CareMonster, a caregiving startup application, aims to make taking care of those loved ones a little more organized, including giving long-term care facilities a way to keep families in the loop.

The app, which is available on Apple and Android devices, helps coordinate schedules, visits and caregiving tasks among all family caregivers. The app also has a business model where care facilities can subscribe to a premium version to get an app that is customized for patients and promotes facility services and resources.

"When we developed this caregiving app in 2013, inspired by our own family’s needs, we never dreamed it would go so far, so fast," CEO Michael Eidsaune said in a company blog. "The CareMonster App … is already helping families do a better job of caregiving in Ohio, Texas and Kentucky, and we’re in talks with a national non-profit organization that wants a branded version of the app for their constituents."
