The senior care industry has weathered a long, challenging road during the pandemic, but
thanks in large part to the availability of COVID-19 vaccines, there is hope in sight.

With more residents and staff being vaccinated, the strict social distancing measures that were
in place to protect residents can be gradually loosened. Many facilities have begun to allow in person visitation again, and some have started to allow more social activities.

But that’s just the beginning of the work that the senior care industry will need to do to rebuild
from the long-term effects of the pandemic. The tremendous loss of life means that many
facilities not only have an unusually high vacancy rate, but also that public trust in the long-term
care setting has been eroded.
