ANA appoints new president of ANCC

The American Nurses Association (ANA) Board of Directors appointed Patricia Reid Ponte as the next president of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

“ANCC’s work to advance practice excellence in nursing around the world is vital,” says ANA President Pamela Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, in a news release. “We are fortunate to have a leader with Pat’s vision, experience and commitment to lead ANCC as it continues to innovate, expand and meet its mission to serve nurses and patients around the world.”

Reid Ponte will begin her two-year term Jan. 1, 2016. She succeeds Michael Evans, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN.

Reid Ponte, DNSc, RN, NEA-BC- FAAN, is chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient care services at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the executive director of oncology nursing and clinical services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

ANCC is the largest nurse credentialing organization and a subsidiary of ANA.
