Maria Shriver hosts exercise fundraiser for Alzheimer’s

Over the weekend, Maria Shriver, Patti Davis, Norah O’Donnell, Pamela Brown, Soledad O’Brien, Leeza Gibbons, Liz Hernandez and former Massachusetts First Lady Ann Romney raised money to end Alzheimer’s disease through exercise.

Shriver partnered with Equinox Sports Club to host the inaugural MOVE FOR MINDS experience. Participants at six Equinox clubs across the nation raised money to complete a boxing class, practice yoga and meditate.

“I want people to know there is a connection between a healthy body and brain health,” Shriver says in an interview with Parade Magazine. Shriver became an advocate Alzheimer’s research after her late father Robert Sargent Shriver, Jr., was diagnosed in 2003.

MOVE FOR MINDS is part of The Women’s Alzheimer’s Challenge, Shriver’s not-for-profit dedicated to women’s brain research. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the MOVE FOR MINDS will go toward research
