ALFA launches advocacy fund to support state-level issues
The board of directors of the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA, soon to be renamed Argentum) is putting its money where its mouth is.
The board voted unanimously to launch an inaugural 2016 advocacy fund to increase the association’s visibility and involvement in state-level issues. The initial fundraising goal was $1 million. Board members have already pledged $930,000 on their own.
“We are grateful for the support of our board members who have made the start of this fund such a success,” said ALFA President & CEO James Balda in a press release sent by email. “It is through their generosity that we will be able to work even harder, both through our state partners, member companies, and individually to raise the bar of excellence for senior living throughout the United States through our multi-pronged approach to advocacy efforts.”
The Advocacy Funds is restricted to efforts such as government, legal and public affairs and will support industry initiatives across multiple states related to regulatory reform efforts. The ALFA Board of Directors will be responsible for approving all initiatives.
Participating companies are Atria, Belmont, Benchmark, Brandywine, Brookdale, Direct Supply, Elmcroft Senior Living, Five Star Senior Living, Genesis HealthCare Holiday Retirement Integral Senior Living, Kensington Senior Living, Legend Senior Living, Life Care Services, Merrill Gardens, New Perspective Senior Living, RPM Management, Silverado, Stellar Senior Living, Sunrise Senior Living, Vi Living and Welltower (formerly Health Care REIT).
