MatrixCare moves care coordination services to Microsoft Azure

MatrixCare, Bloomington, Minnesota, is headed for the Azure cloud. The long-term care industry giant is launching its CareCommunity solution on Microsoft’s Azure, one of the first HITRUST security-certified large-scale cloud computing platforms. The CareCommunity solution provides population management and care coordination tools, as well as clinical decision support and business process insights.

Matrixcare will move all its software-as-a-service clients onto Azure, which promises to deliver the ability to conduct advanced business intelligence and complex data analytics in a highly scalable and accessible platform.

“With MatrixCare’s CareCommunity platform and our Electronic Health Record solutions and related tools directly impacting a significant percentage of the US senior and post-acute populations across the entire spectrum of care, we have an exciting opportunity to achieve the Triple Aim by infusing Microsoft technologies into our market-leading products,” said MatrixCare CEO Joghn Damgaard in a company announcement. “Microsoft has shown its dedication to help solve the unique challenges of our markets and has been forward thinking in addressing those challenges. We plan to truly push the envelope together for the benefit of all involved.”

The deal also gives Microsoft a strong technology partner in long-term and post-acute care, added Laura Wallace, vice president of Microsoft U.S. Health & Life Sciences. “Microsoft cloud technologies hold enormous potential to help balance the cost-quality-access equation in the face of an exploding senior population,” she said.

The two companies also will collaborate on the adoption of technologies in the future.
