| This nursing home replaces an existing facility situated immediately adjacent to it, and another nursing facility located a few miles away that is owned by the same not-for-profit organization. Located in an inner-ring suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, the new structure will create a dramatic, state-of-the-art nursing care environment. The new facility features all private resident rooms, separated into two units of 49 beds, and two 24-bed dementia care units. Resident rooms are organized into clusters of 6 beds around a nurses’ aid station, clean linen and supply storage. This configuration allows for flexibility in staffing ratios. |
| Protected terraces and gardens provide a variety of passive and active outdoor spaces. Three courtyards, on top of the parking and service levels, are defined by two belvederes connected directly to the nursing units, which will also allow residents to take advantage of the courtyards in cold-weather months. A therapy garden includes a secure walking path, wildlife area, exercise equipment and game area. The north courtyard, which houses an existing gazebo, provides a large outdoor paved gathering place that can accommodate a tent for community celebrations. |
| The project also includes a 17,000-sq.-ft. Community Building, housing a library, greenhouse, ice cream parlor and 400-seat auditorium. The amenities in this building will be available to residents of the new nursing home and the original building, which will be renovated into affordable Assisting Living. The auditorium will also be available to community groups for meetings, lectures and banquets. |
| The exterior of the entire complex is designed to be compatible with the existing building constructed in 1941 and to respond to the Tudor Revival structures of the adjacent National Register Historic District. |
