Texas assisted living residents displaced by flooding

Atria Cypresswood residents and staff were transferred because of rising floodwaters in the Houston area.

Forty-five assisted living, independent living and memory care residents were transferred by flatbed truck to a nearby church where they received medical care. No one appeared to be injured or harmed. Displaced residents will be relocated to a neighboring facility.

"The safety and well-being of our residents and employees is our highest priority," Atria said in a statement to local affiliate ABC13.

"We will continue business as usual from Atria Sugar Land while we organize sleeping arrangements for all residents. We thank the service teams that are working throughout Houston to respond to this situation, as well as our employees, who are making sure our residents have everything they need."
