Where there’s a wool, there’s a way—or hat

California seniors are trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes.

A group of female residents known as the Yak & Yarn club are readying for the holidays—and winter—by knitting hats for the homeless.

“We are so proud of these residents,” said Bruce Hoggan, executive director of Park Plaza, a Kisco Senior Living Community, in a press release. “Here at Park Plaza, we encourage our residents to find activities that they love doing and that keep them active, but we also find it so heart-warming when they decide to take it a step further to assist others.”

The women have already knit more than 500 hand-crafted caps Along with this recent holiday donation, Yak & Yarn club members will continue to donate to nonprofit organizations.

“While we enjoy being creative, each of us has a passion for giving back to our community,” said knitter Gerry Webb. “Before coming to Park Plaza, I was a foster mother for 19 children. It always warms my heart to know that I can use the motherly skills that I learned to continue to give back to children in need.”
