In a continued effort to refocus healthcare on outcomes-based quality, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is moving more of its quality measures resources and tracking tools to the Web.

The CMS Measures Inventory Tool (CMIT) is an interactive platform that includes tracking tools and resources to show which quality measures are active, which programs they involve, the dates of implementation, any exclusion criteria, National Quality Forum (NQF) endorsement status, new measures still under development and other functions.

“The tool increases transparency and can be used to identify measures across the continuum of care and will help coordinate measurement efforts across all conditions, settings, and populations,” said Kate Goodrich, MD, director of the CMS Center for Clinical Standards and Quality and the CMS Chief Medical Officer in a blog post Monday.

CMS already offers quality measurement tracking tools as Excel spreadsheets, but the web-accessible version will gather all resources in one portal, making it far easier for providers to see and document their measures across the care continuum.
