Photo project captures the picture of joy

All right, Mr. DeMille—The residents at Avanti Senior Living are ready for their close-ups.

A new photography project brings the center’s residents together with Heidi Wagner, photographer and artistic creator of The Passions Project, a visual celebration of seniors in joyful moments. Avanti’s residents will serve as inspiration and photo subjects for the project’s next chapter, designed as an uplifting testament of the happiness in savoring each moment in life.

During the project, Wagner will interview the residents about their lives, favorite activities and passions, and will capture their spirits and expressions through photography.

After seeing Wagner’s work in a portfolio for LeadingAge, Lori Alford, COO for Avanti Senior Living, wanted to get Wagner to do a project specifically with the residents in Avanti’s communities across Louisiana and Texas. “We plan to have Heidi use her artistic eye to capture pictures of our residents at each community and then we will hang their photographs throughout the community for inspiration,” she said in a corporate anouncement.  “The pictures will be of residents caught in the moment of doing something they love. These will serve as reminders of what living your life to the fullest really looks like. If you keep experiencing the things that life has to offer, you will be genuinely happy.”
