Nursing home ban involves social media posts, family says

A Texas memory care community has banned a resident's adult children from visiting because of their “exploitive and invasive” social media posts, which violate the privacy rights of other residents, according to a federal lawsuit filed by the family and reported on in an American Bar Association publication.

Silverado Sugar Land, the suit claims, has banned the family members until they delete postings that show their mother or other residents, and the facility has asked the family members to refrain from making similar posts in the future. The family members say the memory care community is violating their First, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights as well as provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
