NCAL updates assisted living principles

Coinciding with National Assisted Living Week, the National Center for Assisted Living has released an update to its "Guiding Principles for Assisted Living" (PDF).

The revised document “encourages an increased focus on the delivery of person-centered care; special training for staff who deliver specialty care; and installation of carbon monoxide detectors in accordance with state and local requirements,” according to the organization. The principles represent preferred practices but not minimum standards, standards of care or industry norms, according to the group.
