Learning never gets old for Fla. seniors

Residents of Menorah Manor’s three senior communities in St. Petersburg, Florida got to don their graduation caps and celebrate the joy of learning.

The senior care organization’s YOU-niversity program, launched in spring 2016, encourages seniors to sign up for nine classes throughout the year to learn new subjects and explore new skills. Experts and professionals from the Tampa Bay area serves as the faculty for the program, which has included topics such as photography, music, art history, theater and journalism.

Students who completed the program received diplomas and a celebratory graduation ceremony.

“Menorah Manor YOU-niversity keeps with the ancient Jewish tradition of engaging in life-long learning,” said Menorah Manor’s director of spiritual care, Rabbi Leah Herz. “Continuing education is very important to our residents, and we’re excited to bring them this wonderful new program.”

Menorah Manor YOU-niversity is made possible by an Innovation Grant from the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties.
