LeadingAge CAST adds new EHR adoption model

The LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) has released a new seven-stage model for electronic health record (EHR) adoption that can be adapted to any size or type of long-term care setting. The tool offers the flexibility often absent from other EHR adoption models, most of which are designed for hospitals.

"The CAST EHR Selection Portfolio’s new 7-stage adoption model was tailored to help long-term care providers not only improve efficiency, but also quality of care for their residents," said Majd Alwan, PhD, executive director of CAST, in the release announcement. “We hope that our new adoption model will make it easier for more and more providers to integrate advanced EHR functionalities into their operations, and use them to continuously improve care quality.”

The model has been added to the organization’s online portfolio of free EHR selection tools, including a product functionality matrix, whitepapers and case studies.
