Health and Human Services’ Affordable Care Act website, HealthCare.gov, got a massive facelift in preparation for this fall’s start of the new Health Insurance Marketplace, formerly called the health insurance exchange.
The redesigned site includes topic-based categories on health insurance programs, the insurance options available under the Affordable Care Act, smarter search features and extensive FAQs that cover the “what if” questions commonly received by the administration. Over the coming months, the site will offer new tools for generatin that allows consumers to research coverage options, generate personalized lists of policy options and shop for coverage.
Built as both a resource and a communication platform, the new site include a 24/7 chat feature as well as a new toll-free number for questions (1-800-318-2596 or for TTY: 1-855-889-4325). The call centers
For Spanish-speaking consumers, the CuidadoDeSalud.gov site will be updated to match HealthCare.gov’s new consumer focus.
“The re-launched Healthcare.gov and new call center will help consumers prepare for the new coverage opportunities coming later this year,” Tavenner said in today's announcement. "In October, HealthCare.gov will be the online destination for consumers to compare and enroll in affordable, qualified health plans."
Open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace begins October 1, 2013.
