HHS funds Aging and Disability Resource Centers

To assist states in strengthening and expanding access to home- and community-based services for seniors, people with disabilities and their families, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has announced a $25 million funding opportunity.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) initiative is a partnership between the Administration for Community Living (ACL), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Veterans’ Health Administration (VHA). The VHA will also provide an additional $27 million to VA Medical Centers in ADRC-funded states over the next three years.

Eight states will be selected to accelerate the development of single-entry ADRC models to provide consumers with information and access to the options available for support and services in their communities. In a release, ACL Acting Administrator Marilyn Tavenner said, “We want these programs to serve as high-performing ‘one-stop shop’ models across the country.”

In addition to the eight states selected, up to 40 states will receive funding from the ACL over the next three years to support ADRC programs.
