Holy Redeemer Health System, based in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., is expanding its integrative medicine program beyond hospital patients to include those in long-term care, outpatient care and home care, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. The initiative ultimately will include care for caregivers as well, the publication reports.
The initiative is being led by the system’s medical director of integrative health and its director of integrative medicine and wellness programs. The program includes services such as holistic health coaching, acupuncture, healing-touch energy therapy, massage, aromatherapy and reflexology—and it even extends to the design of new construction and renovation projects, according to John George, PBJ senior reporter. Under the Affordable Care Act, insurers must reimburse all classes of providers that are licensed in their states, points out Julie Miller, editor-in-chief of Long-Term Living sister media brand Behavioral Healthcare, in a blog post. The provision, however, must be enforced by state insurance regulators, she adds.
