ePrescribing software earns controlled substance certification

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based AOD Software's electronic prescribing software has received EPCS (Eprescribing of Controlled Substances) certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The company is the first serving the long-term care industry to receive this designation.

In a DEA-approved audit, AOD's Integrated Management software successfully completed electronic prescribing of controlled substances and provided evidence to meet the 55 requirements under the Controlled Substance Act. Since state regulations are moving toward the electronic exchange of prescriptions, including state-specific rules pertaining to controlled substances, long-term care organizations need to be ready, noted Doc DeVore, director of Clinical Informatics and Industry Relations at AOD Software, in a press release.

Designed specifically for long-term care facilities, AOD's ePrescribing software features simplified data entry screens, easy reporting tools and beefed-up security requiring prescriber logins and e-signatures.
