Eden Alternative’s Bill Thomas joins Mainstreet

Mainstreet Health has a new director of innovative health care—none other than Bill Thomas, MD, founder of The Eden Alternative and the Green House project. Thomas, an internationally known geriatrician, will help Mainstreet develop new initiatives in senior living design, transitions of care, community-based senior services and other models for post-acute and long-term care.

"With the addition of Dr. Thomas, our intent is to do something disruptive, to reinvent the entire 'senior care' sector," said Zeke Turner, Mainstreet founder and CEO, in the corporate announcement. "He is a top innovative mind within health care and with his collaboration, we plan to take an intolerable product and make it something desirable."

Many have attributed the birth of the person-centered care movement to Thomas and his outspoken insistence on finding new models for clinical care and quality of life. "Senior services is entering an exciting new phase that is going to reward innovators and risk takers with sustained growth and offer consumers more choices and significantly better experiences and outcomes," Thomas said. "Joining Mainstreet places me at the epicenter of a revolution that is transforming the field of long-term care."

Thomas's "Age of Disruption" tour, which has visited more than 50 cities since its 2014 inception, plans to include 30 cities in 2016.
