Going online is about to be a breeze for American seniors.
Breezie, a touch screen tablet interface specifically for seniors, has announced plans for U.S. expansion. The American headquarters for the U.K.-based company will be in Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania has the nation's highest concentration of healthcare providers.
"The concentration of senior care providers and the cutting-edge research taking place at Carnegie Mellon University were the two most important factors in our decision to establish our HQ here," says Breezie founder and CEO Jah Kazimi in a company-issued press release. "We’re confident that Pittsburgh will be a critical success factor for Breezie in the United States."
The company will be meeting with senior living executives across the U.S. in the upcoming months. The company has already launched a pilot program with Ohio Masonic Homes.
Breezie offers a stripped-down, customizable interface. Simplified versions of everyday services such as email or Skype are designed to encourage seniors to go online and get connected. The company has partnered with Samsung to provide the tablets.
