CMS boosts Medicare Advantage reimbursements for 2015

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will increase pay rates under Medicare Advantage plans by 0.4 percent in 2015, the agency announced late Monday.

The adjustment comes a month after CMS' February announcement that had predicted Medicare Advantage reimbursements would be cut by nearly 2 percent.

The final rate announcement also included further reduction of beneficiary out-of-pocket costs within the Medicare Part D donut hole and the establishment of best practices and guidelines for Medicare Advantage plans that make "significant changes to their provider networks."

Medicare Advantage plans now cover more than 15 million beneficiaries.
