CAST completes telehealth portfolio

Washington D.C.-based LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) released two new resources designed to assist long-term and post-acute care organizations in their selection of telehealth systems.

With more emphasis being placed on telehealth and remote patient monitoring, CAST designed an online selection tool containing 22 products from 16 vendors. These products are grouped into 12 major categories of functionality and are compared based on more than 200 different features.

In addition, CAST compiled six case studies from healthcare providers who were nominated by participating vendors. The organization hopes that these case studies can further assist LTPAC organizations, hospitals and physicians in making an informed decision in choosing the best telehealth systems to suit their individual needs. "The online selection tool we produced makes it so easy for providers interested in selecting and implementing telehealth or RPM solutions to identify a short-list of products that meet business line and basic needs," said Majd Alwan, Ph.D., LeadingAge senior vice president for technology and executive director of CAST. "The case studies highlight how providers went about implementing these technologies, the impacts they experienced, lessons they learned and pitfalls to avoid."

The completed telehealth portfolio now becomes a companion to CAST's electronic health records (EHR) selection and implementation portfolio.
