Aviv, Chelsea Jewish merge senior services in Boston region

Chelsea Jewish Foundation, Chelsea, Mass., and the Aviv Centers for Living, Peabody, Mass., are joining forces to become the largest nonprofit senior services provider in Greater Boston.

The two organizations, both with longstanding histories in eastern Massachusetts, will be able to take advantage of each other’s expertise in senior care management, short-term rehabilitation services and specialized assisted living programs, notes Chelsea Jewish Foundation CEO Barry Berman.

"Joining these two organizations together makes a great deal of sense at this point in time, given the complexities of a vastly-changed and evolving healthcare system," he said in a press release.

Chelsea Jewish, which serves more than 500 residents across four campuses and several service agencies, will operate the new organization. The three Aviv facilities, which serve more than 300 residents total, will continue to conduct business under their current names.
