Second quarter 2013 shows decreased nursing home occupancy

As of the second quarter of 2013, nursing care occupancy across the MAP31 markets (i.e., the 31 largest metropolitan markets in the U.S.) was 87.6%, which was down 40 basis points from the prior quarter. The decline in occupancy was demand driven, as inventory remained essentially unchanged, while the number of occupied beds declined 0.5% from the prior quarter.
