The recent announcement of a joint integration and distribution agreement between Stanley Healthcare and digital health solutions provider BAM Labs is aimed at reducing pressure ulcers and falls among residents of senior living facilities by leveraging the technologies of both companies.
The Stanley Healthcare Patient Monitoring solution will give caregivers the ability to monitor a resident's sleep patterns, position changes while in bed and episodes of leaving bed through real-time data gathered from BAM Labs' under-matress sensor pad.
According to Mark Bisson, Stanley's Global Solutions Manager, this collaborative partnership will integrate BAM Labs' sensor technology with Stanley Healthcare's global software platform, MobileView, thus turning data into meaningful information that can be easily assessed by caregivers.
While more efficient monitoring can reduce pressure ulcers in residents, the data captured by this sensor pad also can help prevent falls among the elderly. Medical costs directly related to falls can be as high as $52 billion a year, according to some estimates.
Commenting on the joint partnership, Richard Rifredi, co-founder and CEO of BAM Labs, said, "We are thrilled to partner with Stanley Healthcare, a world-class brand focused on transforming patient care, and the industry leader in several categories, including fall management. BAM Labs’ ability to affordably turn any bed into a 'smart bed' with our innovative touch-free biometric sensor and cloud platform is the logical evolutionary step for improved fall management and reduced incidence of pressure ulcers for Stanley Healthcare’s loyal customers."
