Residents at Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Englewood were exposed to the sweltering heat Monday when the air conditioning went down.

According to NorthJersey.com, the building on Grand Avenue was evacuated at about 3:45 p.m. when the HVAC system went out of service, Englewood Fire Chief Erik Enersen said.

No one was injured or became ill because of the heat and about 50 patients were evacuated, Inglemoor spokeswoman Christine Emrick said. The patients were taken to other Inglemoor centers.

Repairs were still being made at 7:30 p.m.

"As a skilled nursing provider, we are fully prepared for situations like these and have a thorough and effective plan for any situation in which patients require relocation," Emrick said in a statement.

Inglemoor staffers accompanied patients on the ride to the other centers and their family members were notified, Emrick said.
