Seniors rally for Women’s March

They marched in the 1970s for women’s and civil rights, and they marched Saturday to protect them.

About 15 seniors organized in the lobby of Holladay Park Plaza retirement community in Portland, Oregon. They couldn’t make the trek downtown but still wanted to show their support for the Women’s Marches around the world. So they marched on the campus and held up homemade signs that read “Sister power” and “One world.”

Linda Fisher says many of her fellow residents remember the fight to earn those rights and are concerned they will be scaled back under President Donald Trump.

“Most of the people here are hopeful but also want to be vigilant and want to make sure women’s rights don’t take a step back,” Fisher says to Oregon Live. “We felt like we did something. We spoke.”

They rallied, again.
